Your Name is Your Destiny

When the time neared for the Israelites’ deliverance, a baby was born. In a humble dwelling, seemingly insignificant, almost killed by an insecure ruler. But saved — set apart.

As he grew, a sense of purpose stirred in his soul. But worldly ways brought worldly results. And he ran. (Exodus 2:11–13)

In the desert, a God he didn’t know called out his name and spoke out his reason for living. “Moses, Moses.” Drawn out, drawn out. Drawn out of the water, drawn out from the world. Drawn into his destiny.

When YHWH said yes, Moses said no. When Moses asked why, YHWH said, because.

YHWH won.

As the time approached for the world’s deliverance, a baby was born. In a humble dwelling, seemingly insignificant, almost killed by an insecure ruler. But saved — set apart.

Each time His parents called His name, they revealed His reason for living: “Jesus, Jesus.” God rescues! God rescues! For He would save God’s people from their sins.

As He grew, a sense of purpose stirred in His soul (Luke 2:49). As He matured, his resolve increased (John 18:37).

When God said yes, He said yes (John 14:10). When the devil asked why, He said, because (Matthew 4).

The whole world won.

For such a time as this, you were born. You came into the world with nothing, seemingly insignificant, confronted by your insecurities. But saved — set apart.

Seated with Christ in heavenly places, walking in the middle of a broken-down world.

You have a new identity. God has given you a new name. His child. His chosen. His workmanship. His glory. Each time He calls you, He reveals your purpose. Is your sense of it growing? Is your desire for it increasing?

When God says yes, will you say yes? When you ask why, is God’s answer enough?
